South African singer Issa Sisdoh calls on Ancestral Rituals for Vuma Dlozi Lami, a six-minute prayer to the ancestors.

The title reads as a plea, roughly agree, my ancestral spirit. Lyrics move through darkness and sleeplessness, with the speaker saying it is hard and asking a Father to stand with them. Gratitude runs through it as well, so the plea is not only about pain. The refrain repeats the title phrase over and over, so it works like a chant.

Credits name Doreen Rabokhokho as the writer. Composer credits list her alongside Ancestral Rituals. Deezer clocks the track at 6:20, while the label line reads Issa Sisdoh.

Apple Music files the single under Afro-pop, though one lyrics site says it blends ancient chant with modern sound. Deezer and Apple both list it as a stand-alone single with one track. An official music video also exists, credited to Issa Sisdoh and Ancestral Rituals together.

A DJ mix version, Vuma Dlozi Lami (Mixed), later landed on the compilation 3 STEP 2025 MIX and runs 3:14. Khulula Moya Wami is another of the artist’s songs on Apple Music. Play Vuma Dlozi Lami and tell us in the comments – when does a song feel like a prayer for you?
