Baraka handled the production on “Commando” himself. That is his habit, since he writes and produces much of his own material. He also produced five of the seven songs on his earlier “Growing Pains” project. “Recess II” holds seven tracks, so this one lands early in the run.

Tiwa Savage moved back to Nigeria and signed with Mavin Records in 2012. Then in 2018, she won Best African Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards, the first woman to do so. She released the album “This One Is Personal” in 2025.

Baraka broke through with “Nana” in 2023, and the remix added Joeboy and King Promise, among others. Early on, he tried continental pairings too, like “I Do” with Ghana’s Bryan The Mensah and “Bend It” with Kenya’s Maya Amolo.

He has also worked with Nigerian acts before, including Skales on “Body on Me” and DJ Neptune on “Tonight”. Going by monthly listeners, he overtook Diamond Platnumz as East Africa’s most streamed artist on Spotify this year.
