Maskandi singer Limit Nala brings in Thandeka Hadebe on Ngimbe Lomhlabathi, track seven of his 16-track Number 10 album.

Ngimbe Lomhlabathi runs 5 minutes 23 seconds, so it takes its time. One write-up says it builds gradually instead of coming in loud. Another write-up hears Afro-soul melodies over a steady rhythm. A third site calls it deeply emotional, though it keeps the instrumentation gentle.

Limit Nala comes from KwaNxamalala village in Nkandla, KwaZulu-Natal. He started out professionally with the single Bengimlindile. Dankie San was his first album, and Take Your Time later grew to 15 tracks. He also won the Mother of All Maskandi Festival grand prize, a Toyota Quantum taxi, on over 152,000 fan votes.

Limit Nala has also teamed up with Mjolisi on Tomorrow and with Nkosazana Daughter on Mahhala. Ntencane’s Kwanhliziyo Ngise carries him as a feature too. Thandeka Hadebe handles the guest slot, while one site calls her an award-winning artist. Sites file the song under Maskandi, a Zulu folk tradition led by guitar.

A YouTube official audio upload credits the song to Limit Nala featuring Thandeka Hadebe. Still, the upload’s description points to Number 10 as the new album. Settle in with Ngimbe Lomhlabathi and tell us in the comments where the song gripped you.
