Four tracks deep into this run, and this one strips things back to basics. After three collaborations built around Portia K.M’s voice, “Side Of Bass” drops vocals entirely and lets the production speak for itself.
The bassline sits front and center here, thick and rolling, exactly like the title promises. Log drum patterns stay tight underneath, giving the low end plenty of room to dominate the mix.
Percussion builds gradually across the runtime, small variations keeping the groove from repeating itself too obviously. Nothing distracts from that central bassline though, every other element stays in support of it.
Without a vocalist to lean on, the track has to earn attention through pure rhythm and low-end weight. It manages that well, the groove doing enough on its own to hold interest.
