Tanzanian hip-hop crew Nako 2 Nako returns with “Hawahemi Vol. 2,” a project that channels raw Bongo hip-hop spirit.
The name means “fist to fist,” and the group began at a martial arts dojo. That discipline still shows in their hard-hitting lyrics and tight delivery. So a new chapter from them feels less like a comeback and more like a reminder.
“Hawahemi” is not new territory for the crew. Their earlier mixtape “Mzuka Hawahemi” helped build their name across East Africa, and this sequel picks up that thread. Lord Eyes leads the charge on “Mbele Ya Muda,” the single that announced the project. P Funk Majani produced it under Bongo Records, and the message is simple: keep moving forward, no matter how much changes.
The sound blends classic Bongo hip-hop with modern production. Beats hit hard, but the lyrics stay sharp and lead the way. Because of that, older fans get the nostalgia they want, while newer listeners get a proper introduction to one of Tanzania’s veteran crews.
For anyone who loves Swahili rap with real bars, this project is worth your time.
