Nigerian Afro-house queen Niniola opens her “Without You” EP with “Pain,” the track that sets the emotional tone for everything that follows.
Placing this one first wasn’t accidental. Because the EP is dedicated to her late husband and manager, Michael Ndika, “Pain” establishes the weight before anything else gets a chance to soften it. There’s no dance-floor energy here, no attempt to disguise what the song is actually about.
