Well-skilled Igbo rap heavyweight Phyno goes solo and cultural on Nwa Aturu, a track from his album Let That Sink In.

Blogs translate Nwa Aturu roughly as a lamb, the young one of a sheep. That image sets innocence and patience against the harsh side of survival. Phyno says meekness counts as a virtue, but staying alive on the streets takes resilience. Vigilance and quiet strength carry the same message, so the song reads as advice.

The beat runs mid-tempo, with traditional acoustic touches and clean shakers. A steady bassline drives it, while Phyno uses his raspy flow. Igbo proverbs mix with painful storytelling, according to one blog. Penthauze and MAD Solutions share the copyright line on the album.

Let That Sink In has 15 tracks and runs about 45 minutes. Uzo Ano brings in Flavour, while Na Afa Nna (Freestyle) is a rap showcase. Healing and Beautiful came out ahead of the album as singles. Seyi Vibez and Fireboy DML are among the confirmed guests.

Phyno has long rapped in Igbo, and his production stays raw around the edges. Full Time Job, his last album, also carried Flavour and NSG. Take Nwa Aturu in slowly and tell us in the comments – which Igbo proverb would you teach a young lamb?
