Nigerian rapper, Rollan Gee drops a new hard-hitting single titled “Genging” which arrived on July 2, 2026. It comes off as one of his most straightforward records.
The word “genging” speaks to a very specific culture – the idea of moving with your people, holding your circle close, and showing up for those who show up for you.
Rollan Gee has always leaned into street-level themes without losing his craft, and “Genging” fits naturally within that space. The energy here is unapologetic, which is exactly what fans of Nigeria’s underground rap scene expect from him.
His previous releases already laid the groundwork. “Distance,” “Wetin Con Remain,” and his ROLLIEVERSE project each showed a rapper who thinks beyond individual songs.
Rollan Gee started making music at fourteen and released his first track at fifteen, so by now the confidence in his delivery is earned rather than performed. That experience shows on “Genging” because nothing about it sounds like an artist still finding his footing.
The polished production also works in the record’s favour. Underground rap in Nigeria often sacrifices sound quality for rawness, but Rollan Gee does not make that trade-off here. He gets both – the attitude and the execution.
“Genging” is the kind of record that travels well within loyal circles and also reaches people outside them. For an artist still building his name, that combination is exactly the right move.
