Taarab group Sheby Kinanda Classic Band teams up with vocalist Khamisi Macho on “Nina Jambo Langu,” a song about ignoring gossip.
The single came out on November 1, 2026. Its title means “I have my own matter,” and the message follows. Mind your own business, stay focused on your priorities, and do not let outside talk steer you. People who have dealt with criticism will recognise the feeling right away.
The sound stays rooted in coastal tradition. Accordion lines lead the way, with keyboards that copy the kinanda sound, and prominent coastal percussion underneath. Khamisi Macho adds another vocal colour beside the band, so the performance feels like a conversation rather than a solo.
Gossip is a favourite subject for this group. Their catalogue includes “Sichambi Umbea” from 2026, plus “Acha Waseme” and “Tatizo Sio Kamdomo.” So “Nina Jambo Langu” extends a theme they keep returning to.
The band also likes long songs. “Wema Huo Sina” runs 11 minutes, “Kosa Langu Nini” runs just over nine, and “Bifu Langu Haliishi” runs more than seven. Shabani Salum Adam is credited as writer and composer on these releases, which shows how much of the band’s sound comes from one pen. They release through 8148903 Records DK.
