Skhwele Sesoka leads a four-way tribute called “Tribute Scebi,” pulling in Iqadi, Idlabisi and I Tourist LaseNquthu to honor someone clearly missed.
Four voices on one tribute track is a lot to coordinate, but that’s kind of the point here. Nquthu runs deep in this one, local pride mixed with grief mixed with respect. Scebi meant something to this crew, and they’re not keeping that quiet.
Maskandi guitar carries most of the weight, that familiar picked pattern running under everything else. Percussion stays light, mostly there to keep time rather than steal focus. It’s a sound built for storytelling, not for showing off production tricks.
Skhwele Sesoka opens things, setting the tone before handing off to the others. His delivery’s got that rough, lived-in maskandi texture, nothing smoothed over. You believe him when he talks about loss because it doesn’t sound rehearsed.
Iqadi and Idlabisi split the middle stretch, each bringing their own memory or angle on who Scebi was. I Tourist LaseNquthu closes it out, tying the local flavor back to where it all started. Four different voices, one shared point they’re all circling.
Nobody’s trying to outdo anybody on this. It’s not that kind of song. Just four guys from the same area making sure somebody isn’t forgotten.
