Togolese recording artist Talakaka On The Flow pulls in Nigerian singer JoBlaq for “Fake Life,” a cross-border collaboration released through Diflomatic Records.
The original “Fake Life” already had a message that resonated. It called out the culture of appearances – people spending money they do not have, projecting a lifestyle online that bears no resemblance to their reality.
JoBlaq’s involvement on this version does not soften that message. If anything, it sharpens it. Having a Nigerian voice on a Togolese record also gives “Fake Life” a broader West African reach that the original could not have had alone.
JoBlaq has been active across several collaborations recently, including “Shake It” with Ayox and “Many Things” with Samad. He is clearly in a period where he is building profile through the right feature placements. The composition credit on “Fake Life” goes to Espoir Yovogan.
“Talakaka On The Flow Fake Life” runs for three minutes and forty-seven seconds – compact enough to make its point without outstaying its welcome.
