Well-skilled Tega Boi DC brings rappers ZerryDL and Rord Kelly onto “Alhamdulillah,” the second track on his EP “SOL.”
The title is an Arabic phrase of thanks, often translated as “praise be to God.” That sets a grateful tone after the heartbreak of “eyes & soul,” which opens the three-track project. So the EP turns from pain to appreciation in just one step. Boywithmagic produced the song.
The lineup mixes styles. Tega Boi DC sings in melodic Afrosounds, while ZerryDL and Rord Kelly bring rap from Nigeria’s indigenous scene. Having three voices from different approaches gives the song variety. The singer sets the hook, and the rappers add punch between the lines. Nobody takes the whole stage.
The group has history. ZerryDL worked with Tega Boi DC on the 2024 EP “Grooves and Moves,” so the reunion feels natural. ZerryDL’s “Back to Back” also became a hit this year, peaking at number 21 on the TurnTable Top 100 and landing on Billboard’s Afrobeats Songs chart. Rord Kelly has been on a collaborative run too, with a feature on “Mmili (Remix)” and his own “Ser Feliz.”
For Tega Boi DC, the song continues the shared direction that followed his move into the Plutomania collective. Earlier records like “Roll” and “Child’s Play” built his name, and this team-up widens his audience.
Fans of street-flavoured Afrosounds with a thankful message will enjoy this one.
Give thanks with “Alhamdulillah” and tell us – which verse hits hardest?
