Nigerian singer Teni links up with highlife brothers The Cavemen on “Wise,” off her EP The Wellness Package.
This is one of the more unexpected pairings on the project. The Cavemen bring their Afro-highlife DNA from Abuja into a track that Okayafrica described as “transcending time and place.” That phrase actually makes sense here – the song sits outside the usual Afrobeats lane and doesn’t try to fit in.
Rich highlife rhythms drive the production, built around the kind of warm, acoustic instrumentation The Cavemen have made their signature since breaking out years ago. Nothing here chases a trend. The beat feels rooted, almost ancestral, while staying easy to listen to.
Teni doesn’t oversing the moment. Her delivery on “Wise” is measured and thoughtful, letting the highlife groove carry the weight rather than forcing emotion over it.
The Cavemen’s contribution deepens the record’s cultural grounding, pulling the sound further into classic Nigerian musical tradition. Their presence on The Wellness Package feels intentional, not decorative.
