THE NORTHMOB lands Young Stunna on their new single “Sjepa,” and the story behind how this collaboration came together is just as interesting as the record itself.

Trophy teased the record on Facebook on July 18 with “NORTHMOB x YOUNG STUNNA when do you want it.” Young Stunna then posted a video on his 1.5 million-follower Instagram account rapping along to his verse, pulling 48,000 likes before the song officially dropped. That kind of organic pre-release momentum is rare for an independent collective financing their own visuals.

Made up of Trophy ZA, Orieblxckmaestro, Carlow Picasso, and MajorIcey, THE NORTHMOB has been building steadily by blending hip-hop influences with sounds that connect with South African audiences. But “Sjepa” feels like their biggest moment yet. Young Stunna doesn’t just lend his name here. He actually shows up with a verse that brings real Amapiano energy into the collective’s Trapcardi world.

The release also serves as the final single before THE NORTHMOB’s upcoming project, which means “Sjepa” carries extra weight beyond just a standalone drop.

Also, Focalistic’s involvement in their “camp, chair” video earlier this year showed established artists are already paying attention. Young Stunna joining the catalogue only confirms the trajectory.
