Irish rock giants U2 return with a new single titled “The Greatest Show On Earth.” It comes from their upcoming album, “Carnaval De Luz.”

This marks the third single from the album, after “Silencio” and “Street Of Dreams.” The band also named its 2027 stadium tour after the song. That run will be their first stadium trip since 2019.

Brian Eno co-wrote the song with the band, so the sound stays moody and wide. Layered guitars carry the build, and the drums keep it moving. Instead of rushing, the arrangement lets each section breathe.

Bono sings with a lived-in tone that suits the story. He rides the melody carefully and saves the big push for the chorus. In an interview with Rolling Stone, he named it his favorite on the album.

The lyrics follow a couple trying to hold on to love and faith. It’s heavy, but the writing keeps some bite. Anton Corbijn directs the video in the California desert, and it paints the band as a religious cult.

Longtime fans get the familiar U2 sound, but with a heavier emotional load. Finally, the song feels built for a stadium singalong. Larry Mullen Jr. is also back for the tour.
