Swedish pop star Zara Larsson returns with a dreamy new record titled “Blue Moon” from her “Midnight Sun” album.

The song sits at track two on the album and is its fourth single. Zara wrote it in Jamaica after spotting a gorgeous moon there. Her boyfriend, Lamin Holmén, inspired the lyrics.

Warm tones float over quick drum and bass rhythms, so the beat keeps moving. MNEK co-produced the album, and the electronic touch runs through it. Also, the synths leave space for her voice.

Zara glides over the beat with a soft, confident vocal. She stretches the notes on the chorus, but she never rushes the lines. Even in a fast setting, she keeps the mood romantic.

The lyrics celebrate rare love, and the title explains why. A blue moon is hard to catch, so she uses it to describe a one-in-a-million partner. Charlotte Rutherford directs the video, where Zara appears as a mermaid and a fairy.

Zara admits the song isn’t big on streaming yet, so she’s asking fans to push it. Consequently, the video arrives as a nudge for anyone who slept on it.
