Zulu Queens gather Lwah Ndlunkulu, MaWhoo and Feza for “Distance,” a track built on four strong voices instead of one lead carrying everything.
No single frontwoman dominating the credits here, more like a genuine collective effort. Distance as a theme could mean a lot of things, missing somebody, needing space, longing across miles. Four women, presumably four angles on the same feeling.
Instrumental stays atmospheric, soft synth pads drifting under a slow, deliberate rhythm. Nothing rushes toward resolution. Space exists deliberately in the mix, mirroring the theme of distance itself pretty literally.
Zulu Queens open with a longing, unhurried tone, setting the emotional register before the others arrive. Lwah Ndlunkulu follows with her own recognizable warmth, distinct from the opening voice but complementary. Different textures already stacking early.
MaWhoo and Feza close things out, each adding a slightly different shade of the same ache. Nobody rushes their turn, the track gives every voice room to actually register. Four women processing distance from four angles, one shared feeling tying it together.
“Distance” works because it trusts four voices to say more collectively than one could alone. Zulu Queens didn’t need to dominate their own track to make it land. Sometimes sharing the space is the stronger choice.
