South African DJ DeejayKgosi opens his five-track EP “Chairman” with “Izenzo,” bringing together Priddy Man-Kay, Lington, ilovelethu, Springle, and Kaotic Kayy for a packed introduction.

The title translates to “actions” or “deeds,” and opening the project on that word says something about intent. Rather than easing listeners in with a lighter cut, DeejayKgosi puts his fullest lineup on track one, treating the opener like a statement rather than a warm-up.

Five voices on a single opening track is a bold choice, but the chemistry holds. Lington and ilovelethu already have history with DeejayKgosi through “Ziwa Lana,” and Kaotic Kayy and Priddy Man-Kay appear across nearly every track on “Chairman.” Springle rounds out the mix here specifically, adding a texture that does not carry through the rest of the EP the same way.

What “Izenzo” does well is set a tone without overexplaining it. The Amapiano groove stays steady underneath, giving each featured voice room to land a phrase before passing it along. Nobody overstays their welcome, and that discipline keeps a five-artist opener from turning into a crowded mess.

Track one sets a high bar for the four songs that follow it on “Chairman” – does the rest of the EP match this energy for you?
