South African DJ DeejayKgosi teams with Lington on “Ipolo,” track three off his five-song EP “Chairman,” bringing Kaotic Kayy and Priddy Man-Kay along again.

By this point in “Chairman,” a clear pattern has formed. Kaotic Kayy and Priddy Man-Kay show up on every single track, while DeejayKgosi rotates a third or fourth voice around them depending on the song. “Ipolo” narrows that lineup back down to a core four, right after the five-artist stretch of “Izenzo” and “Ntombi Yami.” So the EP breathes here, giving the groove more room to move.

That trimmed lineup suits Lington’s chemistry with DeejayKgosi well. The two have already built a working relationship through tracks like “Ziwa Lana” and “Sawubona,” and “Ipolo” continues that pairing without needing extra voices to carry the record. Kaotic Kayy and Priddy Man-Kay slot into their now-familiar supporting role, keeping the sound consistent with everything else on the project.

Placed at the project’s midpoint, “Ipolo” also functions as a reset before “Iparty” and “Kuyabekezelwa” close things out. It is smaller in scale but no less confident, proving DeejayKgosi does not need five names on a track to keep the energy up.

Track three trims the cast but keeps the groove intact – does “Ipolo” hit differently with fewer voices in the mix?
