Neema Gospel Choir turns 34 this year, and instead of a quiet celebration, they threw a full thanksgiving service at AICT Chang’ombe Church in Dar es Salaam back in June, recorded it live, and just released the results as “Mema Medley.”
Praise leader Noel Nobert directs the whole thing, and the choir’s resident live band, The Expendables, backs every section. That combination gives “Mema Medley” a texture studio gospel rarely captures, actual room acoustics, a congregation responding in real time rather than a mix engineered for radio.
Thirty-four years running, and this is what they still sound like live.
