Fireboy DML goes solo on “ONAZO!,” track nine of his fifth studio album “ZUKO!,” just before the home stretch.

The song sits between “KILOWI” and “S.L.U.T (SEX LOVE UNDERSTANDING TRUST),” so it lands in the part of the album where the mood turns more personal. There is no guest on the track. Fireboy carries it alone, as he does on most of the second half, after Judah Earl, Masicka, Lojay, JAZZWRLD, and Thukuthela fill the earlier slots. Detailed write-ups on the song’s lyrics are still thin, so listeners will have to judge the theme for themselves.

The album gives plenty of clues about the bigger picture. “ZUKO!” Two years after “Adedamola” and was released by YBNL Nation and EMPIRE. Fireboy named it after his stage persona, and the artwork uses stark black-and-white visuals with red accents. The story follows a character arc of passion, identity, inner conflict, and redemption. Before the release, he shared a “Red Couch Session” on YouTube that explains the theme.

The sound travels across five languages: English, Yoruba, Pidgin, Jamaican Patois, and Zulu. That mix gives even the solo songs a wider feel, so a track like “ONAZO!” can move easily between moods.

Fireboy has been writing albums since “Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps” in 2019, and each project has grown more personal. This late-album cut adds to that story.

For fans who like to explore albums track by track, this one deserves a full, careful listen.
