Bongo flava star Ibraah brings in veteran Dully Sykes for a cool new record titled “Pozi.” The pairing mixes new school and old school.
The title sounds like street talk for striking a pose, so the mood is playful from the jump. Dully Sykes has been in the game since the early bongo flava days, with hits like “Julieta” and “Salome.” Ibraah, on the other hand, rules the younger crowd.
Ibraah handles the hook with his usual mellow tone. He sounds more playful than usual, yet the melody still carries a little ache.
Dully Sykes then jumps in with a confident verse full of old-school swagger. Meanwhile, the lyrics focus on style, attitude and love, all in easy Swahili.
The two generations blend without any awkward moment. Ibraah brings the feeling, Dully brings the experience, and Tanzania gets a fun crossover.
