South African vocalist Minollar teams up with Eastern Cape producer Dr Dope on “Ngifun’uthando,” the second track from her “Let’s Dance” EP.

The title translates to “I Want Love” in Zulu – and Minollar handles that vulnerability without letting the record slow down. She channels the longing for genuine affection through a fast-moving Gqom and Afro-House arrangement that keeps the dancefloor energy alive even as the writing reaches into something personal. That specific combination is what gives “Ngifun’uthando” its character.

Dr Dope’s production is the record’s most distinctive quality. His Sgubhu-inspired beats, deep bass, and syncopated percussion create a heavy but precise foundation that gives Minollar’s soaring vocals a real surface to cut through. So the contrast between the production’s intensity and the vulnerability in the writing does not create tension. Instead it creates momentum – each element pushing the other forward rather than pulling against it.

The placement at track two on “Let’s Dance” also carries structural logic. “uNodoli” opens the EP aggressively and establishes the sonic identity. Then “Ngifun’uthando” deepens the emotional range without breaking the rhythm. So by the second track, the project already shows it can hold multiple registers at once – which is exactly what a well-sequenced EP needs to demonstrate early.

Dr Dope’s credentials – including his “The Weekend” collaboration with Kitso Nave and consistent presence in South African dance music – also give this record real production credibility beyond just the name on the feature.
