South African vocalist Minollar delivers her debut four-track EP “Let’s Dance” – a tight, purposeful project that blends Gqom, Afro-House, and Sgubhu into one cohesive statement.

What separates “Let’s Dance” from the average South African dance EP is how deliberately it was constructed. The tracklist moves through distinct emotional registers without losing its sonic identity. It opens loud and aggressive, moves through love and longing in the middle, and closes on a spiritual declaration of gratitude. That arc across four tracks is exactly what elevates a collection of songs into an actual body of work.

The collaborator choices also reflect real creative thinking. DJ Alex RSA’s electronic Gqom energy on “uNodoli” sets the tone immediately. Dr Dope’s Sgubhu-inspired production on “Ngifun’uthando” adds textural depth at track two. Then Aw’DjMara holds down both the romantic “uThando Lwami” and the closing “Ebenezer” – giving the project’s second half a unified sonic thread. So the EP never sounds scattered despite its short runtime.

Minollar’s “Gqom Barbie” identity also evolves naturally across the four tracks. She is not the same performer on track four that she is on track one. The confidence is consistent but the emotional range widens as the project progresses. That growth within a single EP is the mark of an artist who understands how to use a short project to say something complete.
