Northern Nigerian Afrobeats artist OG Abbah makes a bold move on “Damuwana,” a new record that reportedly features a guest verse from Mayorkun.
That pairing matters more than it might seem at first glance. OG Abbah built his name through “Wayyo Allah Na,” which cracked the top 3 on the Shazam Global Chart and spent 23 days inside the top 50. But his roots are firmly in Northern Nigeria, with Hausa-led lyrics and a sound distinct from the Lagos-dominated mainstream. Bringing Mayorkun into that space creates a genuine contrast – two artists from different corners of the same industry, finding common ground on one record.
Mayorkun’s presence also signals something about where OG Abbah sees himself heading. His 2025 “Malafa” project introduced his sound to a wider Nigerian audience, and “Damuwana” feels like the natural next step in that expansion. Rather than staying in a lane that has already been defined for him, he is actively reaching toward new listeners without abandoning the style that made him stand out.
The early reaction on the page already says something. One listener simply dropped three crying emojis in the comments. Short, but honest. Sometimes that is the only review a song actually needs.
Listen to “Damuwana” and let us know in the comments what it does to you too.
