Ruff reworks “Ibandla” into a fascinating remix stacked with big names, Emtee, Sjava, Saudi and Nasty C all showing up for round two.
Original version clearly did enough to earn this kind of remix treatment. Four heavyweight South African names is not a small ask either. Ibandla points to congregation, gathering, community, fitting title honestly for a track pulling this many artists together.
Beat gets rebuilt for the remix, low end pushed harder than whatever the original probably carried. Sjava’s presence alone tends to pull things toward something more textured, less straightforward trap or amapiano. Nasty C’s verse likely comes with sharper bars given his usual pocket.
Ruff opens things, staying close to the original’s foundation before handing off. Emtee slides in with that laid-back drawl he’s known for, unbothered pacing. Sjava brings a different register entirely, more melodic, almost sung in parts rather than rapped straight through.
Saudi and Nasty C close out the back half, Saudi’s grit contrasting Nasty C’s technical sharpness nicely. Four distinct styles stacked on one beat, and somehow none of them cancel each other out. Ruff’s original hook still holds the whole thing together underneath all that star power.
This remix isn’t just adding names for the sake of it, each verse actually shifts the track’s texture some. “Ibandla (Remix)” earns the extra attention four features usually demand. Worth the wait if the wait was even long.
