Zanes brings ProSoul and MacKenzie in for “Intombi,” and this one settles into something warmer than his usual crowded-lineup tracks.
Intombi means young woman, girl, that kind of reference. Straightforward romantic or admiring angle probably, title doesn’t hide much. Three names, tighter unit than some of the bigger posse cuts floating around right now.
ProSoul’s touch shows in the production, smoother than straight amapiano, something closer to soulful house underneath the log drum base. MacKenzie’s involvement might explain the extra melodic layer running through the mix. Warmer palette overall, less aggressive low end.
Zanes sings with genuine warmth here, nothing forced about the admiration in his voice. Doesn’t oversell the compliment, just lets it sit naturally. Comfortable delivery, matches the softer production well.
ProSoul and MacKenzie fill out the back half, adding texture more than competing for lead attention. Neither verse tries to steal focus from Zanes’s central sentiment. Supporting cast doing exactly that, supporting.
“Intombi” keeps things simple and sincere, Zanes not overcomplicating a compliment record. ProSoul and MacKenzie’s production work does plenty of the heavy lifting here. Warm, straightforward, does what it sets out to do.
