Nigerian indigenous rapper Superwozzy reunites with singer TiiRii on “Morocco,” a street-pop record about hustle and international dreams.
The title is a destination, and the song treats it like a goal. Superwozzy raps about ambition and the grind it takes to get out there. He does not dress it up. His Yoruba delivery stays hard-hitting, and his street-focused view gives the song its grit.
TiiRii brings the opposite colour. His smooth melodic touch softens the edges, so the record never sounds too rough. The two worked together before on “Ganging Refix,” which explains why they fit so easily. Nobody sounds like they are fighting for space.
The Afrobeats groove is rhythm-led and clean. It leaves space for Superwozzy’s bars on one end and TiiRii’s hook on the other. So the song is slick but doesn’t lose its street flavor.
It follows his collaboration with Lyta on “God’s Design,” so he keeps a steady release pace. Azuri handled the release, which gives it solid backing.
For anyone chasing something bigger than their current street corner, “Morocco” feels like a theme song.
