South African Amapiano duo TNK MusiQ gather Mr Seven Keys, Msheke Lezinto and Ase Brown on “Ispan,” track fifteen off “iiNgcambu zikaThixo.” Four names on one record means a busy, lively room.
Some of these faces are familiar. Ase Brown already worked with the Johannesburg pair on “Piki Piki,” and Msheke Lezinto showed up earlier on this album with “Izintombi.” Kyle De Producer and T-Man RSA keep their circle tight, which is why the chemistry feels easy here. Mr Seven Keys is the fresh addition.
Groove leads the song. Layered percussion moves with deep bass, and electronic touches give it polish. It’s the kind of arrangement built for DJ sets and late nights, with room for each voice to breathe.
Each artist gets a flavour of their own. The energy stays high without turning messy, which is hard with four contributors. Lyrical detail is thin so far, so I won’t guess at a storyline.
Coming after “Ngik’fune duze” and “I’m Lost Inside” in the tracklist, “Ispan” lifts the mood again. It’s a good reset point in a long album.
