South African amapiano duo TxC bring Davido, Zlatan, Shoday and Scotts Maphuma to a London stage for Nakupenda.
BellaNaija reports an arena singing the song back to Davido, Zlatan and Shoday. Davido wore a white tank top and green trousers, while Zlatan went with a tactical vest and red trousers. The live clip runs 5:12 on Apple Music, though the studio version runs 5:33.
Smeez and D3an produced the original, which sits on TxC’s album Straata. NotJustOk hears a relentless amapiano beat built on log drums and deep basslines. Davido opens the track, then Zlatan follows with raw street energy. Scotts Maphuma and Al Xapo carry the South African side of the guest list.
Nakupenda is Swahili for I love you. Al Xapo is credited on the studio cut, though the London video lists Davido, Shoday and Scotts Maphuma. TxC won Best New International Act at the 2025 BET Awards. They signed with LVRN in 2024, and LVRN Records is the label on this release too.
Davido submitted Nakupenda for Song of the Year and Best African Music Performance at the 2027 Grammys. Remixes by Vigro Deep and N: Fostell are also out. Rewind the London clip and tell us in the comments – which of the guests owned the stage?
