Woza Bakzin and GoldMax break their no-feature streak here, bringing in CampMasters for “Skelemu.”
Three straight instrumentals and then this feels like a deliberate change of pace. CampMasters stepping in adds an actual vocal presence back into the picture. Curious to hear if the sound shifts along with it or stays in that same lane.
Log drum’s still there obviously, but there’s a looser bounce compared to “Umahlafuna,” less grinding, more swaying. GoldMax seems to have eased off the darker gqom textures for this one specifically. Feels closer to their “Makhe” energy honestly, brighter, more built for actual dancing.
CampMasters brings that chanted, call-and-response style typical of amapiano vocal groups, voices layering over each other in short bursts. Doesn’t dominate the track, more like another percussive element than a lead vocal moment. Fits naturally into what Woza Bakzin and GoldMax already had going.
Nice change after three vocal-free tracks in a row, gives the duo’s catalogue some actual range. Not every song from these two needs to be a pure DJ tool. “Skelemu” proves they can still make room for a vocalist without losing their sound.
