Afrobeats legend Davido marks 15 years in music with his sixth studio album “ORIADÉ” – a 13-track project that trades the sprawling 17-song format of his previous albums for something more focused and intentional.

The title comes from two Yoruba words – “ori” meaning destiny and “adé” meaning crown. So “ORIADÉ” translates to crowned destiny or fulfilled purpose. That framing runs through every track on the project. But Davido does not carry it as a heavy concept. Instead, it sits underneath the music as a quiet confidence – the feeling of an artist who has survived enough to know exactly who he is.

What makes this album structurally interesting is how it opens. The first four tracks are all solo records. Davido walks in alone – no features, no shared spotlight – and establishes his identity before inviting anyone else into the conversation. That kind of sequencing takes real self-assurance. Because most artists in his position would lead with the biggest feature name available.

The collaborative second half then expands the album’s world deliberately. Black Sherif brings Ghanaian depth. Leon Thomas adds American R&B credibility. Aya Nakamura opens the French and Francophone African market. Mayorkun closes a DMW chapter. Each feature serves a specific purpose rather than just filling a slot. Though the album runs shorter than anything in his catalogue, every track earns its place.

Davido also revealed he recorded most of ORIADÉ at home with his family nearby – and that intimacy shows throughout.
