Manyarela closes with “Maroala-Thotoana,” and this title’s a tough one to pin down without more context.
Best guess ties it to a plant or small growing thing, something rooted in the ground, modest, easy to overlook. If that’s right, it fits a pattern she’s leaned on before, using small physical images to say something bigger about faith or endurance. Nothing showy about the reference either way.
Instrumentally there’s barely anything new to report, same guitar-led setup, same restrained percussion sitting in the back. At this point in the run it almost feels like a signature more than a limitation. She’s not chasing variety in the sound, she’s chasing precision in the message.
Her voice sounds more settled here than on “Ha Li Jaroe,” less weighed down. Whatever she was working through a few tracks back seems to have eased some. Not fully resolved, just lighter somehow, easier to sit with.
Lyrically it stays close to that small-growing-thing idea, something modest that still holds its ground. No big lyrical swing here, just quiet insistence that small things matter too. Feels like a fitting note to end on after everything before it.
This one’s not going to be anybody’s favorite off the run, probably. But it rounds things out okay.
