Johannesburg Amapiano duo TNK MusiQ delivers “iiNgcambu zikaThixo,” a 20-track project with ZANI, DJ Raybel, Daliwonga, and others.
The Xhosa title roughly points to “God’s roots,” and the album has a deep-rooted feel to match. It runs long, so it covers a lot of ground. Yet the sequencing keeps things moving. “Isikhalo” opens with Civil Soul and Leora on vocals, and that pair returns on “Wrongo” and “Ngik’fune Duze.” So a soulful thread holds the front half together.
ZANI is the album’s main partner. He shows up on nine tracks, including “Sifudumale,” “Honey,” and “Tholukuthi.” Prime de 1st then joins them for three records in a row: “Kumhlophe,” “Monate Fela,” and “Ntokazi.” That run feels like a mini suite inside the album. Daliwonga appears on “uNgowami,” while “Izintombi” brings in Msheke Lezinto and Siya SA for a six-minute groove.
The late stretch avoids sounding repetitive. “7 Seconds” swaps ZANI for Quinton Deep and Massve MusiQ, and the change refreshes the mood just before the end.
For Amapiano fans who like full albums instead of single hits, this one rewards a long listen.
