Rough translation lands somewhere near “you continue to hold me,” a plea more than a statement. Different energy from “Lipere Tsa Ka Thuathe,” less about moving forward and more about needing something to grip onto. Makes sense they’d come from the same catalogue though, same voice working through different angles of faith.
Instrumentally it’s stripped down again, just a guitar and some light hand percussion keeping time. Nothing fancy happening production-wise. Feels almost like Manyarela recorded this one sitting in a room somewhere, no studio polish getting in the way.
The vocal delivery leans desperate at points, actually, more than her other tracks. There’s a strain in certain lines like she’s genuinely asking, not just singing about asking. That kind of rawness doesn’t always show up even in gospel music, so it stands out here.
Lyrically it just keeps returning to that one request, hold on to me, don’t let go. Repetition does the heavy lifting instead of clever wordplay. Sometimes that’s all a prayer really is anyway, saying the same thing until it sinks in.
